It took just few innings for Tilak Varma to make a name for himself in IPL 2022. Mumbai Indians bought him for INR 1.7 crore in the auction and he is repaying the team management. Although Mumbai Indians have lost both their opening games but Tilak Varma impressed everyone with scores of 22 and 61. More importantly he scored these runs at an impressive combined strike rate of 173. Mumbai Indians have introduced many gems for Indian cricket like Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya and now Tilak Varma has now joined the list. Meanwhile his journey to the glory has not been easy by any means.
19 years old Hyderabadi cricketer belongs to a humble background and rose to the top position with some staggering performances at the junior-level cricket. Tilak Varma was part of the Indian squad for 2020 U-19 World Cup but he could not manage to come up with some impressive performances. But his heroics in the domestic circuit has earned him a very lucrative IPL contract. Now Tilak Varma is aiming to buy house for his family.
He recalled that growing up his family had a lot of financial difficulties. He said that his father had to look after his cricket expenses as well as his elder brother’s studies with a meagre salary. He added that we don’t own a house as yet so with whatever I have earned in this IPL, my only aim is to get a house for my parents. He said that this IPL salary has given him free to play freely for the rest of his career.
