
Brother of former South African pacer Vernon Philander was shot dead in Cape Town on Wednesday. According to reports, Tyrone Philander, a younger brother of Vernon Philander was killed just meters away from the home in Ravenmead. He was delivering water to a neighbor when he was shot dead.

According to Police the shooting happened on Wednesday around the lunchtime. They said that they are investigating the case as a murder. A community member said that Vernon Philander’s mother and other family members were in the yard of their house when they heard the gunshots. Vernon Philander was the South African pacer who retired from international cricket earlier this year after an illustrious career that spanned for 13 years. He was one of the best seam bowlers in the world. He represented South Africa in 64 tests and he got 224 wickets with the best figures of 6/21. Philander made his test debut against Australia in 2011 and played his last match against England in January 2020.
