
Serena Williams has made it to the semi-final of US Open after defeating Bulgarian Tsvetana Pironkova in the QF. Serena Williams made it to the semi-final for 11th consecutive time. But it was not a smooth ride for Williams as the match tested the fitness and emotions of her as well. She made it to the final four after defeating the Bulgarian 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.

Pironkova was the surprise of the tournament as the unranked player not just to the final 8 but also won the first set against the mighty Serena. 32 years old Pironkova is the top ranked Bulgarian tennis player and is considered the best grass court players of her country.
