The mighty Serena has reached the quarter finals of the US Open 2020 after a competitive match against Greece’s Maria Sakkari. This was a rematch of their 3rd round match in Western and Southern open almost two weeks ago and Serena has taken the revenge of her loss to Sakkari.
Serena’s hopes of winning the 24th Grand Slam are still alive and this was her 100th win at the Arthur Ashe stadium. Credit must also be given to the Greek player who was playing her 4th round match against the legend but she never shattered. She was up to the challenges put by the great Serena.

In the 2nd set of the game Sakkari forced a tiebreak and Williams fell behind 0-4 in no time. But then she gathered herself and fought back to 6-6. At this moment some untimely errors from Serena cost her the 2nd set and the match went to 3rd and final set.
In the 3rd set Sakkari started well with a creak of serve against Serena, but she bounced back with a break of her own to get it back to normal. She then took the lead of 3-2. Pressure was mounting on Sakkari and Williams capitalized on it and got another break to take the lead of 5-3. After that she served out the competitive game and finished it with a lioness roar.
