Serena started the semi-final match with a bang. She came out firing all the guns against Azarenka and wrapped up the first set in approx. half an hour. But in the 2nd set Azarenka who was playing her first final after 7 years collected herself and snatched the set. In the 3rd set the story was same for Azarenka as the two times Australian Open winner defeated the American great who unfortunately struggled with an injury in her left ankle. Serena’s quest for the 24th title is still on as she has confirmed that she will play French Open this year.
