
Portugal and Serbia’s encounter in the FIFA World Cup qualifier was held 2-2 after the last-minute goal from Ronaldo was denied. This decision left Cristiano Ronaldo fuming as he threw his captain’s armband and left the pitch even before the full-time whistle.
In the final moments of the game Cristiano Ronaldo guided the ball towards the Serbian goal post but Serbian defender Stefan Mitrovic cleared the strike with his sliding effort. But later the replay showed that the ball was already inside the goal. However, the Dutch referee Danny Makkelie denied the goal. Cristiano Ronaldo received the yellow card for showing emotions.

Meanwhile, in the 11th minute of the game Portugal took the advantage with Diogo Jota’s strike. He was again in action in the 36th minute and gave Portugal a 2-0 lead in the first half of the game. In the 2nd half Serbia made a breathtaking comeback as in the 46th minute, Aleksander Mitrovic scored first Serbian goal. In the 60th minute Filip Kostic scored an equalizer. Portugal looked rusty in the second half as Serbian players finished the game with more shots i.e. 16.
