Director Media and Communications of PCB, Sami-ul-Hasan has revealed that the league matches will continue as scheduled despite some COVID-19 positive cases. He said that 244 tests have been conducted since yesterday and 3 individuals have tested positive.
He revealed that 2 foreign players as well as an official associated with a PSL franchise have tested positive for coronavirus and they have been sent into isolation within the bio-secure bubble. He added that these incidents have happened previously in different sporting events all around the globe and there is no need to panic.
The match between Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators was rescheduled after Islamabad United’s leg-spinner Fawad Ahmed was tested positive for COVID-19. Pakistan Cricket Board has decided to conduct the tests of all the individuals in the bio-secure bubble instantly so that the the spread of the virus can be judged.
There were also rumors that the league will be postponed or cancelled but PCB has clarified that the league will go ahead as scheduled. He said that now additional emphasis will be made on the bio-secure bubble in future.
