Pakistan vs England 2nd Test – Day 2 Review – Rizwan’s fifty has lifted Pakistan

The 2nd day of the Southampton Test was also start-stop day as it was affected by rain. The Rain as well as wet outfield delayed the start. When the play started under the overcast condition Muhammad Rizwan and Babar Azam came into the arena in order to resume from where they left yesterday. The start was positive from Pakistan and the first session went wicketless. The session was brief one with 15.2 overs. Pakistan ended the session on a high note as they were 155/5 and Babar Azam was inches away from half century. When the 2nd session started Azam who started very carefully got a peach from Stuart Broad. Buttler completed the catch and Azam fell 3 short of his half century.

After Babar Azam, Yasir Shah came to the crease and tried to build a partnership but Yasir Shah did not last long. He fell for 5 runs as he edges the one from Anderson which was taken safely by Buttler.

After Yasir Shah, another Shah came onto the crease but due to a miscommunication between the two batters the younger Shah i.e. Shaheen Shah paid the price and was run out.

After Shaheen, Abbas came to the crease. Rizwan was playing responsibly and reached to his fifty. Rizwan is the only wicket-keeper batsman to score a fifty in the last 10 Test that Pakistan have played in England. Abbas and Rizwan steadied the ship of Pakistan and crossed the 200 mark. But Abbas then was caught in front of wicket when Pakistan was on 215.

Unfortunately, bad light stopped the play and Pakistan ended the day’s play on 223/9. Now we are hoping to have a better weather over the remaining 3 days of the Test so that we can have a result.
