Djokovic started the game with no sign of physical problems that was a point of concern in his previous match. He was all set for a routine win when he had a match point at 5-4 in the 3rd set. But the fifth seed Greek Tsitsipas fought back with some staggering shot making. The 22 years old Tsitsipas clinched the third set after surviving the match point. After this he averted many break points in the 4th set and dragged the match to fifth set. In the fifth set, Tsitsipas was struggling physically and his dream of becoming the first ever Greek player to reach a Grand Slam final vanished as Djokovic was back into his colours. He sealed the victory with an impressive forehand winner almost two hours after his 1st match point.
With this win the top seed, Serbian has reached to his 27th Grand Slam final and in the final he will meet his old rival Rafael Nadal. This will be the ninth time in a Grand Slam final that Djokovic will face Nadal. If Djokovic managed to pass the Nadal hurdle, he will win his 18th Grand Slam title. On the other hand, if Nadal wins, he will equal Roger Federer’s record of 20 Grand Slam titles.
