Delhi Capitals have continued to show their impressive form in IPL 2020 as they have beaten Rajasthan Royals. They impressive bowling unit have defended 39 runs in the last five overs. In the 16th over R Ashwin conceded only two runs when Rajasthan Royals was looking to take the two points with ease. The experienced off-spinner gave away only one run to Tewatia off 5 balls which started the major turnaround for RR. After this their pace duo Rabada and Anrich Nortje showed their real colours and due to their efforts, RR were left to make 22 runs in the last over which was bowled by debutant Tushar Deshpande. Deshpande was very impressive in his first ever IPL game as he took the prime wicket of Ben Stokes. In the last over, Tewatia was not allowed to repeat his heroic against KXIP and SRH by Tushar Deshpande.
A Tewatia Moment for Nortje:
Anrich Nortje was quick but his deliveries were finding the fence as a 148kmph delivery was sent to the empty stands at the midwicket boundary, then a 146kmph delivery was also shown the stands. The fastest ball of IPL history i.e. a 156.2kmph scorcher was also paddled away. Buttler was sending Nortje all around the parks but Nortje did not lose his temper and stick to his formula that is a fuller and quicker delivery. He came up with a 155.1kmph that skidded past Buttler’s past and ended up crashing the stumps. In the 13th over the South African pacer got some hammering as he went for a six and four as he tried the short stuff. In the 18th over when Rajasthan Royals required 28 with Tewatia and Uthappa were in the middle, Nortje again was given the ball and he chose to go fuller. He bowled a 150kmph yorker to Uthappa then rattled the stumps. At this crucial stage, Nortje just gave away four runs and paved the way for DC to grab two more points and go on the top of the table. Nortje ended up taking 2 wickets for 33 runs in his quota of four overs.
Apart from Nortje, other DC bowlers were also impressive Ashwin was economical with impressive figures of 1.17 in his 4 overs. The purple cap holder Rabada also chipped in with a wicket by giving away 28 runs in his 4 overs. The debutant Deshpande ended his quota of 4 overs with 2 wickets for 37 runs. From Rajasthan Royals, Jofra Archer was impressive as he got 3 wickets for 19. Anrich Nortje was given the Man of the Match award for his stellar performance.
