Kolkata Knight Riders has defeated Kings XI Punjab by narrowest of margin i.e. by two runs and two centimetres. Glenn Maxwell who is not having a very good time at IPL 2020, came very close to make it to another super over game. KXIP needed 7 runs of the last ball to win and Glenn Maxwell hit the ball which was very close to a six. Players waited after the last ball till the replays zoomed in to show that the ball landed just inside the boundary.

KXIP is going through a very tough time in this year’s IPL as this is their sixth defeat in the seven matches on Saturday. On Saturday against KKR they started the game as underdogs but were going very smoothly in chasing 164 runs. They had 115 runs opening stand between Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul. But things changed dramatically when No. 4 batsman Simranjeet Singh played three dot balls and then took a single off the last ball of the 18th over. After this as pressure rose, KL Rahul chopped one on to the stumps in the 19th over. KXIP needed required 7 runs on the last ball and Maxwell hit the ball over covers. There was a confusion whether it is a six or four. The commentators were of the view that it is a six but after the TV reviews, umpire signalled it four. With this loss KXIP remained at the bottom last while KKR is resting on the 3rd place. KKR will play RCB next on 12th October at Sharjah. KXIP will also face RCB next at the same venue on 15th October 2020.
