Karachi Test Day 4 – Pakistan beat South Africa by 7 wickets

South Africa has become victim of the spin trap of Pakistan and lost the first Test at Karachi by 7 wickets on the 4th day. Pakistan was given 88 runs target which was chased down after an impressive batting show by Azhar Ali and Babar Azam. Though Anrich Nortje took two quick wickets but Pakistan won the game without any drama. South Africa is going through a nightmare when it comes to Test matches in Asia as this is the 9th lost off the last 10 matches they have played in Asia.

 

South Africa conceded 158 runs lead to the hosts and they ended the 3rd day of the Karachi Test at 187/4. On the 4th day the spin duo of the Pakistan i.e. Yasir Shah and Nauman Ali showed impressive performance and ended the visitors inning for 245 runs. Keshav Maharaj was shown the way to the pavilion on the first ball of the 4th day. South African skipper Quinton de Kock also failed in the second inning as well. Yasir Shah was impressive with 4 wickets as he took the wickets of Dean Elgar, Rassie, Van Der Dussen, de Kock and Faf du Plessis. Nauman Ali on the other hand cleared up the tail quickly. Chasing the target of 88, Pakistani openers Imran Butt (12) and Abid Ali (10) failed once again but as the target was very low so their dismissals did not hurt Pakistan. Babar Azam was also looking impressive but he got out when Pakistan needed only 2 runs to win. First innings centurion, Fawad Alam hit the winning run as he smashed a four to give his team a well deserved victory.
