On the third day of the Karachi Test, South Africa fought back with the bat after staggering fifties from Aiden Markram and Russie van der Dussen. But at the twilight, Pakistani spin duo Yasir Shah and Nauman Ali helped Green Shirts to regain the advantage on the 3rd day.
At the close of the day’s play, South Africa were 187 for 4 in their second day. They are now leading by 29 runs and finished the first innings deficit after they were trailing by 158 runs. Aiden Markram (74) and Russie van der Dussen (64) helped Proteas to end the 1st innings deficit and take the lead. Both of them made 127 runs for the 2nd wicket. They were sailing smoothly but Yasir Shah broke the partnership as Russie van der Dussen was caught at silly mid-off by Abid Ali. After this former skipper Faf du Plessis was trapped leg before wicket by the leggie but the worse was that the set batsman Aiden Markram was show the doors by Nauman Ali. Dean Elgar who took a nasty blow on his finger never looked relaxed in the middle and he was caught by Rizwan off the bowling of Shah.
Earlier Pakistan’s tail frustrated the South African bowlers in the morning session. Yasir Shah and Nauman Ali made 55 runs partnership for the last wicket. The highlight of the day was Kagiso Rabada’s 200th Test wicket when he uprooted the stumps of Hasan Ali. He became the 4th youngest bowler to reach the 200 wickets milestone.
