Sunrisers Hyderabad have selected the right arm pacer from Jammu and Kashmir Umran Malik. He will replace T Natarajan who tested positive for COVID-19 and the franchise was forced to put him and some other members into isolation including the all-rounder Vijay Shankar.
The franchises are allowed to sign short-term replacement player until the original members are allowed to re-enter the bio-secure environment of the team. So Malik will only be part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad side until the original member T Natarajan recovers and is allowed to join the team. Umran Malik is an inexperienced player and he has only played one List A game and one T20 match. His only T20 game came against Railways in January 2021 where he took three wickets. On the other hand, Sherfane Rutherford has returned home after the death of his father. Rutherford had replaced Jonny Bairstow in the Sunrisers squad but he also had to leave.
