Delhi Capitals and Proteas pacer Anrich Nortje has tested positive for COVID-19 which is a huge blow not only for the club but also for Indian Premiere League. Earlier some players, ground staff and managers have also tested positive for coronavirus.
Delhi Capitals have already lost the services of Axar Patel due to COVID-19. Axar tested positive for COVID-19 on 3rd April just a week before the start of the 14th edition. Nortje came to India with fellow pacer Kagiso Rabada and he is at the moment asymptomatic with results of the further test awaited later on Wednesday.
When Nortje arrived in India, he tested negative for COVID-19 and it seems the he developed the virus during his quarantine period. Apart from Nortje, Daniel Sama and Devdutt Padikkal had also tested positive for coronavirus. BCCI is testing each IPL player in bio-secure bubble everyday instead of every third day as was the case in 2020. curators and ground staff have their own bio-bubble. India is going through it’s 2nd COVID-19 wave and recorded 184,372 new cases in last 24 hours.
