From zero to hero yes we are talking about Rahul Tewatia, the man from Haryana who had no clue at all when he came out to bat after the dismissal of Rajasthan’s skipper Steve Smith in the match against KXIP on Sunday. Tewatia was seriously struggling to put the ball on the bat. Rajasthan Royals fans were furious on social media about the promotion of Tewatia ahead of Uthappa. Even the commentators were of the view that Rajasthan has made a blunder by sending on Tewatia who is playing the ugliest inning of IPL. The slow paced inning from the Haryana man put pressure on Sanju Samson and he threw his wicket away in order to chase the nearly impossible task.
Terrific batting by @rajasthanroyals’ batsmen Smith, Sanju & Tewatia to chase this mega total.
They kept their cool and accelerated beautifully.
Surprised how the @lionsdenkxip fast bowlers didn’t bowl many yorkers and also failed to use M Ashwin enough. #RRvKXIP #IPL2020 pic.twitter.com/f52wF11uig

Everything was going against Rajasthan Royals and especially Rahul Tewatia but then came the 18th over by West Indian Sheldon Cottrell who was impressive in his first two overs and he had also dismissed RR’s opener Jos Buttler. Everyone was expecting Cottrell to finish strongly especially when Tewatia was on strike struggling to even cross the inner circle. But here we are Tewatia proved everyone wrong as he hot 5 sixes in Cottrell over. When the over was ended Tewatia was batting on 47 for 29 balls. T20 cricket was at it’s best. In the 19th over Tewatia hammered one more six off Muhammad Shami to complete his impressive fifty. Tewatia was out the next ball but the job was almost done as RR required just 2 runs of the final over. Tom Curran finished the job with a boundary and Rajasthan Royals completed the highest run chase in the history of IPL.
Here are short highlights of this runs saga, enjoy.
