The match between KKR and RCB has seen many lows of the season like the lowest powerplay score of the season (17/4) as well as the lowest innings score from any team of the whole season(84/8) all because of the forgettable performance from the KKR batsmen. And the architect of the shocking batting display was the Hyderabadi seamer, Muhammad Siraj. In the IPL history so far no bowler has ever bowled two consecutive maiden overs in the same innings. Muhammad Siraj of RCB, who was playing only his 4th game of the season achieved this unbelievable feast in his first two overs.
Siraj did not just bowled two consecutive maiden overs but also took three wickets who gave him a stunning bowling figures of 2-2-0-3 at one stage of the game. This stunning bowling show from Siraj reduced KKR to 14/4 from where they could not lift themselves up. Siraj took the wicket of Rahul Tripathi on his third ball of the match. He bowled an outswinger to Tripathi who tried to swing it to the third man and ended up in the gloves of AB de Villiers. Then came the left hander Nitesh Rana and Siraj uprooted his off stump with a wicked outswinger. Siraj’s first over was a double wicket maiden.
From the other end, Navdeep Saini sent Shubman Gill in the dugout leaving KKR at 3 for 3. Then English sensation Tom Banton came onto the crease and hot a six and a four in the same over. Siraj in his 2nd over took the wicket of Tom Banton and also bowled his second maiden over. It was Eoin Morgan who scored 30 runs and ensured that his team is not out for the lowest total of the IPL history. KKR ended their inning on 84 thanks to the 27 runs partnership between Lockie Ferguson and Kuldeep Yadav.
Defending this lowest total, KKR had no clue what to do. Lockie Ferguson, who was in staggering bowling form as in his only match before this, Ferguson had taken 3 wickets for 15 runs against SRH and after that 2 wickets for 2 runs in the subsequent Super Over, was introduced very late in the inning when openers Padikkal and Finch already grabbed 44 runs in the powerplay. He sent Finch instantly after he was introduced with his extra pace and also enforced the run out of Padikkal two balls later. But after this King Kohli came onto the crease and finished the job for RCB as they won the game by 8 wickets.
