Sunrisers Hyderabad gave us the hope in the last game that they have got the much-needed middle order but their stunning collapse against the resurgent Kings XI Punjab on Saturday while chasing a very modest total has proved once again that they are heavily dependent on their openers.

Sunrisers Hyderabad was well on track to win this game as they were 100 for 3 in 16 overs but they were crashed out in the most stunning fashion. They lost seven wickets for 14 runs and as a result KXIP clinched another win and are well alive in the IPL trophy race.

KXIP bowlers were very impressive especially the spin duo Murugin Ashwin and Ravi Bishnoi strangled SRH batsmen. Their medium pacers Arshdeep Singh and Chris Jordan also chipped in and got the wickets at crucial stages. Bairstow and Warner started SRH innings but both of them perished in quick succession and Abdul Samad also fell early and failed to impress. After these blows, SRH find it very tough to cross the line though their last match heroes Manish Pandey and Vijay Shankar were on the crease but both struggled to up the ante. In the second last over, Chris Jordan dismissed Jason Holder and Rashid Khan in successive deliveries and tilted the game in KXIP’s favour.

With this win KXIP are now on the 5th position on the points table and their dream to reach in playoffs is still alive. Their next challenge is against Kolkata Knight Riders who are also looking for the place in the playoffs. This most important game for the both teams will be played at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on 26th October.
