Not good news for all the Delhi fans as DC’s main pacer Ishant Sharma has suffered an injury in the training session. He may be out of action for a longer period during the IPL. The 32 years old pacer has reportedly injured his back during the training session. Ishant is injury-prone and has a history of injuries in the recent past. He was recently sidelined from the main team in January this year after suffering from ankle injury.
Ishant after sustaining the ankle injury in January returned to the competitive cricket to play a Test against New Zealand by then again sustained the same ankle injury, minimizing his chances of making a comeback in the national squad. Ishant was doubtful for this year’s IPL but he went through extensive rehabilitation procedure at the NCA. Ishant Sharma was signed by Delhi Capitals in the year 2018 for INR 1.1 crore. This experience pacer was all set to lead the Delhi’s bowling squad as he had a great outing in the last IPL where he took 13 wickets at an economy of almost 7. Ishant has played 89 IPL matches and has taken 72 wickets which also includes a five-wicket haul. Delhi Capitals have got Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje in their fast bowling line-up plus their spin bowling department is also very impressive with the experienced duo of Ashwin and Amit Mishra. Ishant Sharma may be replaced by Mohit Sharma, Harshal Patel or Avesh Khan. They have also got a very impressive batting line-up consisting of Shikhar Dhawan, Rishabh Pant, Marcus Stoinis, Shimron Hetmyer and their young captain Iyer. Delhi Capitals is one of the top contenders for this year’s IPL title.
