Former Australian china-man Brad Hogg went down memory lane and recalled an instance when he was intimidated by the extraordinary power of Mumbai Indians batsman Pollard. Hogg revealed that how Kieron Pollard trounced a ball bowled by him and the power behind that shot had the bowler anticipate his tactics.
In one of his recent YouTube videos, Hoggie recalled the event that it was the 12th game in IPL 2012 and they were playing against Mumbai Indians in the Wankhede Stadium. Pollard and Rayudu were building a partnership and he was given the ball by the skipper. Hogg said that he was concerned about the power hitting of the big man but with courage he pitched the ball up and bowled a wrong one. Pollard just loved it as he smashed the ball straight down the wicket and instead of coming the ball to him, it went to his partner Rayudu who was backing up. Hogg said that he got scared of the power behind the shot. He further added that he could have got the wicket of Polly but gor scared.
In that match Brad Hogg who was playing for the inaugural IPL champions, Rajasthan Royals finished his spell with 2-31, but Pollard and Rayudu’s 96 runs partnership helped Mumbai Indians post 197/6. Pollard in that match was absolutely ferocious as he scored 64 runs of 33 balls with four towering sixes and six fours. MI won that match by 27 runs. Hogg in his YouTube video also highlighted the importance of the big man i.e. Pollard in the Mumbai Indians camp. He said that KP keeps the team ahead of him which is the secret behind the success of the team for many years. Pollard has played 148 matches for Mumbai Indians and has scored 2755 runs with 14 half centuries to his name. He will again be one of the main pillars of Mumbai Indians in 2020 edition of IPL.
