Delhi Capitals has beaten the Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings by 44 runs and has grabbed the top spot on the points table. This is the first time since 2010 that Delhi has been on the top of the points table. Pritihvi Shaw and Shikar Dhawan opened the inning for Delhi and provided a solid start that allows them to set a challenging total of 176/3. Their bowlers than wrapped up the CSK inning easily. The bowling attack led by Kagiso Rabada was all over CSK. The spin duo of Delhi was also very impressive as both Axar Patel and Amit Mishra conceded only 41 runs in their 8 overs.

Prithvi Shaw was the top scorer with 64 runs for 43 balls and provided 94 runs opening stand with Dhawan. Once the openers went to the dug out then Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer provided 58 runs stand for the 3rd wicket. Delhi due to the solid top order performance managed to set 175 runs target for the men in yellow. In reply CSK had no clue against the DC bowling. Only Faf du Plessis managed to score 43 runs off 35 balls. With this inning he also grabbed the orange cap. Murali Vijay’s woes continue in 3rd straight game and this time he was undone by Anrich Nortje’s pace. Watson was also sluggish and throws his wicket away after making only 14 runs of 18 balls. CSK’s young batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad also fails to impress as he only scored 5 runs of 10 balls. Dhoni’s CSK has not the ideal start of this year’s IPL. Their main batsman in the middle order Suresh Raina and frontline spinner Harbhajan Singh opted not to play this year’s IPL. Adding salt to the injury their star performer Ambati Rayudu is also injured. Now they are having troubles in finding the right combination.
