The COVID-19 pandemic situation in India is getting worse with every passing day. On Saturday, India became the 3rd country to cross the 4 million coronavirus cases. A new record for the daily cases has also been set by India. They are now in second place with more coronavirus cases surpassing Brazil. In the past 24 hours 90,594 cases were added and the total number has reached to 4,110,833.

According to John Hopkins University, in Brazil a total of 4,091,801 cases and in US 6,200,186 cases have been recorded till date. India has reported 1,089 deaths due to COVID-19 on Saturday. The virus was initially in the densely populated cities but now it has spread all over India. In has reached in the remote areas where the health facilities are dilapidated. Most of the cases in India are from Western Maharashtra state and the four southern states of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

The experts are of the view that the worse scenario is yet to come as the people are no more following the SOPs. There is a behavioral fatigue setting in and people are not wearing masks and washing hands regularly. In Uttar Pradesh which is the most populous state of India, the situation is also not satisfactory. It has got a total of 253, 175 cases and 3,762 deaths. All in all the situation is worsening in India and people needs to follow the SOPs in order to save their own and others precious lives.
