England captain Joe Root has started the Indian tour with a bang as he scored his 20th Test century on the opening day of the Test against India at Chepauk. Winning the toss, England decided to bat first on the pitch which seems easy for batting. They had a very reasonable start but then lost two quick wickets when they were on 63.
At this stage Joe Root showed what he is capable of as he scored a classy hundred. Remember he recently led his team to a 2-0 victory against Sri Lanka where he was instrumental with the bat as he scored 228 and 186 runs. During his impressive knock at Chepauk, he countered the spinners greatly as he came up with many sweep shots and late cuts.
Root made a 200 runs partnership with Sibley who was playing a Bumrah delivery around his front pad. The ball struck low and he was shown the doors. Joot became the 9th batsman who scored a century in his 100th match. After his stunning display with bat he was lauded by the cricket fraternity on the social media.

A century in a 100th test for @root66. He has been magnificent. Love how he has targetted bowlers.

Typical exceptional batsman’s hundred. Made with plenty left in the tank. 👏👏👏#JoeRoot
