Former Indian President and prominent Congress leader Pranab Mukherjee has died due to multiple organ failure. He was also tested positive for COVID-19. He was 84 years old and served the Indian cabinets for more than five decades. He has a fall earlier this month and has an emergency surgery for blood clot in the brain. After the surgery he contracted the coronavirus and his condition worsen. After the surgery he remained in coma.
His son, Abhijeet Mukherjee confirmed the news on Twitter about his father’s demise.

Indian President Ram Nath Kovind tweeted about the death of Pranab Mukherjee. He said the death of former president is end of an era.
Sad to hear that former President Shri Pranab Mukherjee is no more. His demise is passing of an era. A colossus in public life, he served Mother India with the spirit of a sage. The nation mourns losing one of its worthiest sons. Condolences to his family, friends & all citizens.

Mukherjee hold the Indian Presidential Office from 2012 to 2017. Before holding the Presidential office he served as the finance, defence and foreign affairs minister. He was a teacher at a West Bengal college before holding a public office in 1969.
