US Open champion Emma Raducanu has shown exemplary courage and strength on her French Open debut. She has beaten the Czech qualifier Linda Noskova in the battle of teenagers. She reached the second round of French Open after beating Linda Noskova by 6-7(4) 7-5 6-1.
The 19 years old British player reached Paris after retiring from the 1st round match in Rome this month with the back problem. But at French Open debut she showed no signs of discomfort during the grueling 2 hours and 37 minutes match on Court Simonne Mathieu. Raducanu was very happy with the outcome of the match and in an in-court interview she said that it was an absolute battle and I’m proud of the way I fought. She was all praises for her opponent Linda and said that Linda came firing at her. In the first ever match against 17-years old Noskova who won the girls’ singles title at Roland Garros in 2021, Raducanu has at first no answer to the aggression of the Czech who hit 48 winners. But Raducanu kept a lid on her unforced errors. She committed 25 errors compared to 54 from Noskova. Raducanu will meet Belarussian Aliaksandra Sasnovich for qualifying in the 3rd round.
