On 29th October, 2020 Turkey celebrated the 97th anniversary of it transition to a republic. As Turkish people are celebrating this occasion the Ertugrul fame actor Engin Altan Duzyatan also wished their fans on the Republic Day just like other celebrities.
The famous actor took to Instagram and shared a picture of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk with a caption written in the Turkish language. Mustafa Kemal Ataturk was the founding father of modern-day Turkey who served as the first president of Republic of Turkey from 1923 to 1938.
Engine Altan got worldwide fame for his role as Ertugrul in the famous drama series Dirilis: Ertugrul. In the drama Engin Altan played the role of Osman’s father who later established the Ottoman Empire that ruled for more than 6 centuries.
Who was Mustafa Kemal Ataturk
Mustafa Kemla Ataturk was the revolutionary statesman and the founding father of modern-day Turkey. He introduced many reforms in Turkey and turned it into a secular and industrial nation. When he was young, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk was part of Young Turks, a revolutionary group that removed the Sultan from his office in 1909. He was the one who led the Turkish War of Independence and signed the famous Treaty of Lausanne in the year 1923 which turned the country into a republic.
Mustafa Kemal Ataturk was born in 1881 in Salonika which was part of Ottoman Empire (Now it is known as Thessalonika situated in Greece). He was born as Mustafa and when he was 12 years old Mustafa was sent to Istanbul in military Academy and there, he was given the name Kemal by his mathematics teacher. Kemal means perfection and he was very good in academics.
Social and Economic Reforms
Mustafa Kemal Ataturk after becoming president modernize as well as secularize the country. For this he studied the Western government structures and applied it to his country. He made many social and economic reforms. He urged the people to dress in Western way. He also replaced the Arabic alphabet with Latin one plus he also introduced Gregorian calendar. He also industrialized Turkish nation and established state-owned factories all around the country. He also established a railway network. Mustafa Kemal gave Turkish women the right to vote and also removed the veiling laws for them.
