Defending champion Novak Djokovic cruised past Yoshihito Nishioka into round two of French Open


World number one and defending champion Novak Djokovic has easily beaten Japan’s Yoshihito Nishioka 6-3 6-1 6-0 on Monday in order to reach the second round of French Open. It was a very easy and comfortable start for the Serb who is looking for record-equaling 21st Grand Slam.

Djokovic who has turned 35 on Sunday required only less than two hours to beat the Japanese world number 99 in his first Grand Slam this year after missing out the Australian Open. Djokovic has said that he struggled to adapt in the 1st set as he is a very quick player. The first set was closely fought but Djokovic cruised through the 2nd and 3rd set. Djokovic who was unable to defend his Australian Open title due to his refusal to be vaccinated against COVID-19 , was never challenged by Nishioka  at all.
