Chelsea has made it to the semi-finals of the Champions Trophy with a 2-1 aggregate win despite Porto’s 1-0 victory in the second leg of the quarter final on Tuesday. Mehdi Taremi’ staggering overhead kick in the added time handed the Portuguese club victory but it was not enough.
Porto was chasing 2-0 deficit from the first leg from last week and the substitute Taremi was able to hit the ball in the back of the net.
Chelsea had a very healthy lead from the last week’s away game in Seville and had to defend the intense attack from Porto in their home leg. Jesus Corona of Porto closed down on Edouard Mendy but failed to make the most of the botched pass from keeper. The Mexican had another chance when he shuffled past Chilwell in the area but his kick went over the crossbar. At the dying stages of the game the strike from Taremi prevented Porto from keeping the clean sheet. Chelsea managed to reach the semi-finals of Champions Trophy for the first time in 7 years. Chelsea will meet Real Madrid or Liverpool in the last four. Real Madris has got 3-1 lead ahead of the second-leg on Wednesday.
