It was reported earlier that the families of Indian cricketers will not be allowed to travel with them and they will go back to India after IPL will end. However, now BCCI has decided that family members can travel with the players during the two months long tour. Keeping in mind the COVID-19 restrictions and the mandatory isolation period, initially BCCI was not confident enough to allow the players to travel with their family members but now they have allowed WAGS (Wives and Girlfriends) of the players to travel with them after the request of some senior players.

For the IPL season, BCCI decided to leave it to the franchises to take a decision whether they want the family members to travel with the players or not. Some franchises like Mumbai Indians, Royals Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals allowed the family members to join the players. CSK was the team that did not allow the players to stay with their family members.

The players as well as their family members will fly to Australia after IPL 2020 will end. After reaching Australia, they will stay in isolation for 14 days. The players will be allowed to train after 7 days. They may also undergo many tests during the isolation period.
