Anderson and Robinson bowl England to an innings win over South Africa in second Test

England trounced South Africa by an innings and 85 runs to win the second Test at Old Trafford inside three days. With this victory England has levelled the series 1-1. The first Test at Lords was won by South Africa by an innings and 12 runs. At tea, South Africa were 141-3 in their second innings, then came England skipper Ben Stokes who remove the set batsmen Rassie van der Dussen (41) and Keegan Petersen (42).

South Africa is holding the top position in World Test Championship but they were bamboozled by the English pace attack as they lost their last five wickets for seven runs in 31 balls and eventually dismissed for 179. Ollie Robinson who was recalled for the 2nd Test took 4-43 in 15.1 overs and England great, 40 years old James Anderson got 3 wickets for 30 runs. Anderson become the first ever player to play 100 Tests on home soil (97 in England and 3 in Wales). He took three wickets in the first innings when Proteas captain Dean Elgar decided to bat first on a bowler-friendly conditions.

This match brought a personal milestone for English captain Ben Stokes who scored 103 his first century as captain. English wicket-keeper batter Ben Foakes also scored his Test best 113 not out. Ben Stokes has now won five of his six Test matches as captain since taking the charge from Joe Root. The 3rd and deciding match will be played at Oval in South London on 8th September.
