American teen Amanda Anisimova has advanced to the 2nd round of US Open by defeating Bulgarian Viktoriya Tomova, 7-5, 7-5. The 2019 French Open semi finalist is the highest ranked teen in the 2020 draw. She has got one of the most impressive backhands in the game at the moment. But she has proved in the first set that she can also get some easy winners of both the wings.

Viktoriya Tomova was impressive as well and she made Anisimova clueless several times in the game. Both of them rtraded breaks twice and were close throughout the match but Tomova came up with some awesome and powerful shots while serving at 5-6 to break and then seal the first set. IN the 2nd set Tomova broke in first game and after that lost four consecutive games as Anisimova was getting her touch and her serve was finding the sweet spot. At 2-4 with Anisimova sailing smoothly, Tomova took advantage of the mishot from the opponent to break and and later levelled the match 4-4. The two stayed on serve to 5-6 but as it happened in the first set, Animisova took the charge in the final game to breal and then win the match.

Animisova did not have a good year till date as she lost in the 1st round of Australian Open and Dubai Open. She lost in the 2nd round of Cincinnati. But she is hopeful to go farther in US Open this year. In the 2nd round she will face the winner of the match between Russian Natalia Vikhlyantseva and compatriot Katrina Scott.
