At least 6 people have been killed in Balochistan by unidentified gunmen. The unknown terrorists attacked a convoy of vehicles travelling from Gwader to Karachi on the main highway, near a small town named Ormara.

Among the dead are the security personnel who were on duty to protect the convoy. The bodies of the ones killed were shifted to a nearby naval base. After this attack the highway was shut down temporarily and the search operation has been launched in the area by the security forces. At the moment no group has claimed the responsibility for this brutal attack but it looks pretty much similar to the attacks from the Baloch separatist groups on the convoys on the same highway. In April 2019, 14 people were killed when some gunmen attacked their vehicles in the same area. That attack was claimed by a Baloch separatist group named Baloch Raaji Aajoi Sangar.

Pakistan’s PM condemned the Attack

The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan condemned the attack and sought a report onto this incident. He expressed grief with the families of the security personnel who lost their lives. Balochistan is the most important region and holds the key to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor which is part of China’s regional Belt and Road infrastructure initiative. With this corridor China’s western province Xinjiang will be connected to Gwadar which will connect China to the Arabian Sea.

IED Attack in North Waziristan:

In another unfortunate incident, six Pakistani soldiers were martyred in a terrorist attack near Razmak area of North Waziristan. According to the reports, the convoy was attacked through an improvised explosive device which took the lives of five soldiers and one officer. Encounters between Pakistan Army and the terrorists have been taking place frequently in N. Waziristan. Security forces has recently killed several hardcore terrorists. The latest incident has come four days after two of the Pakistani soldiers were martyred and three were injured in an attack on security post in the Shawal valley of North Waziristan.
